Description
Our heavy-equipment manufacturing client is looking for an experienced technical writer who can produce technical manuals for operators and maintenance personnel of their specialized railroad maintenance equipment. Projects will include updates and new document development. NOTE: This position is defined as "remote".
Requirements
Must be able to work with engineers, technicians, developers, and manufacturing personnel to "mine" information for manual content. Manuals will typically include setup/calibration, startup, operation, shutdown, maintenance, troubleshooting, schematics, and parts-replacement information.
Previous experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment is necessary to be successful.
The candidate should be comfortable with many of the following technologies: hydraulics, pneumatics, diesel power, drive-trains, clutches, servo motors, HDMI screens, lead acid and lithium battery power supplies, PLCs, and so on.
SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Must have a strong background in the use of Adobe FrameMaker (unstructured).
· Working experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
· Familiarity or some knowledge of CMS, DITA, and XML.

3 days per week (for a total of 24 hrs/week minimum)
